‘Top Gun’ To Be Re-Released In 3D

Legend3D has been tasked with converting director Tony Scott’s wildly popular 1986 fly-boy action-adventure “Top Gun” into 3D for a rerelease in early 2012 (pending Scott’s approval). The company premiered four minutes of the “Danger Zone” Ariel sequence from the film at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam this past Monday.

Rob Hummel of Legend3D had the following to say about the project:

“I think Top Gun lends itself to 3D due to the aerial flight. You can have fun with 3D by bringing things off the screen if they are not attached to the edge of the screen.”

We can all look forward to seeing Maverick, Goose, and Ice-Man indulge in the need for speed up-close and personal in 3D coming next year.
